Worried about the ever increasing threat of reaching the point of no return with regards to the environment? You can do something about it and it doesn’t have to be a major lifestyle change. Cutting down on global carbon emissions is something all of us can do to help lighten the load on the planet. Here are 4 easy ways to make a difference.
Replace older appliances
Appliances such as fridges, air conditioners, water heaters, etc can cause a lot of harm as they aren’t as efficient as newer models. This doesn’t mean you need to get rid of an appliance that is 5 years old but if it’s more than 10 – 12 then it might be time to get a replacement. Though it may cost a bit to buy a new fridge or water heater you will save on energy bills in the long run and it will pay for itself.
Switch to LED
You haven’t switched to LED lights yet? Why not? Not only are they cheap and widely available they also take up way less energy than other, older forms of lighting. Replacing halogen lights from your garage, kitchen or bathroom can help limit carbon emissions and reduce your power bills by a measurable amount.
Green energy
The energy we can get from the Sun is endless, at least as far as we know. So why not try and utilize this abundant solar energy for powering our houses? Solar heaters and even solar backup options are easily available and can help cut your power bills down further. Government subsidies have also helped the adoption of solar panels as alternative energy.
Start carpooling
I know this may sound biased but getting cars or bikes off the road is a great way to tackle carbon emissions and pollution. By carpooling with other like-minded people you can reduce up to 3 vehicles from city roads. When your pool you minimize the usage of fossil fuels and increase space for vehicles allowing for faster movement. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. Carpooling is also much cheaper than paying for gas on a day to day basis. So start carpooling.
