Okay, so we all know that Electric Cars are the future and in some decades we can guarantee that 90% of the cars are going to be electrically powered. Electric cars are still new and not many of us still don’t know how different it is from a fuel car. So we have done our research on Electric cars and we have come up with a few points on how you should maintain your electric car.
We don’t want to encourage you to bring more cars on the road. But at some point in time, cars become a necessity. We would highly recommend you to opt for an Electrically powered vehicle as it is environmentally friendly and it is more sustainable.
EVs are not difficult to maintain and it is fact it is more simple to maintain an EV than compared to a fuel car. However, here are some points that you should consider if you have an electric car.
The batteries are the most important part of any electric car. Keeping your car battery healthy is crucial as it determines the longevity of your car. Here is how you can keep your battery healthy for a longer period of time:
Optimize battery charging
- Like your phone, don’t overcharge your battery, and don’t make it go too low as well. Try to always keep the balance between 20%-80%.
- Don’t expose the battery to extreme weather. Avoid parking your car outside during both hot sunny days and cold winter days.
Fluids and Oil change
EVs don’t need regular oil and fluids changed but some to be worth mentioning are:
EVs use coolant to manage battery temperatures from extreme hot or cold. It is advised that you should have your coolant and radiant checked after every 12 months. Lack of monitoring will degrade or reduce the fluid over time.
Also, keep a check on your windshield and brake fluids.
Tires
The maintenance of tires is the same as fuel cars. Some suggest that the tires on EVs should be changed more frequently as the car is more in weight but it depends on how the driver drives the car daily. Whenever you get your tires replaced make sure that you get the tires that are specifically made for EVs
Underwash Body
These are overall types of cars. While washing your car make sure that you wash beneath the car as well. That is the place where a lot of rusting happens. Invest some money on a good car wash weekly. It is better to spend some money on a car wash than to buy a whole new car again.
So, is maintaining an EV cheaper?
YES! Maintaining an EV is so much cheaper. Evs have lesser parts which makes the maintenance so much easier. EVs also get worn out over time but you can easily enjoy 160,934 kilometers and it can last even longer if you go for regular servicing.
Electric power vehicles also have better We have mentioned some of the best Electric cars that are available in India as of now.
As mentioned before, we highly recommend EVs but it is expensive and not everyone can be in the place to buy them. In that case, we would highly suggest you Carpool for your daily commute instead of buying a fuel-powered car. Carpooling is the simple practice of different individuals coming together to use a single car for the commute. This helps reduce traffic and carbon emissions by decreasing the number of vehicles on the road.
