Now Carpooling made safer with Ride Moderation

Posted on January 24, 2020January 31, 2020

We at Quick Ride always thrive to make the carpooling experience better and safer. We all know how tricky it is to drive in a city like Bangalore and managing the ongoing ride. One has to be very careful and attentive at all times to accept/reject requests, find the pick up point and coordinate with other co-riders.

To solve this problem, Quick Ride has come up with a unique feature called ‘Ride Moderation’.

What is Ride Moderation?

The name of the feature is self-explanatory, Ride Moderation is nothing but controlling/moderating the carpooling ride. Yes, Ride Moderation is introduced to assist the ride giver and other co-riders during the ride. Through this feature, after a ride taker checks in, he/she can manage the ride on behalf of the ride giver. Ride giver need not worry about managing the ride and can drive safely.

How does Ride Moderation feature work?

  • The Ride Moderation feature will be enabled by default in the upcoming version of the Quick Ride app.
  • A ride moderator will be able to help the ride giver in accepting/rejecting invites, navigating to upcoming pick up points and coordinating with upcoming ride takers.
  • To use Ride Moderation, both the ride giver and ride taker should enable the feature.
  • Ride takers can take help from the Ride Moderator who has already checked in the car.
  • The Ride Moderation feature will be visible to a ride taker as soon as the ride is confirmed. Ride Giver can see the feature on the app as soon as the ride is created.
  •  Both the ride giver and ride taker can disable the Ride Moderation feature from a ride or Settings.

Ride Moderation for ride giver

  • As a ride giver, you will find the Ride Moderation feature very helpful.
  • Driving and managing the ride are a very tough task and multitasking while driving is a big no-no.
  • With the Ride Moderation feature enabled, ride takers will be able to assist you in accepting/rejecting invites, navigating to pick up points and coordinating with the upcoming ride takers.
  • The Ride Moderation feature ensures that the ride giver is not distracted while driving.

Ride Moderation for ride taker

  • As a ride taker, you can help the ride giver by checking in as a ride moderator.
  • You can take the responsibility of accepting/rejecting invites and navigating to pick up points while your ride giver drives safely.
  • You can also coordinate with co-riders and help with the pick up points.
  • With the Ride Moderation feature, a co-rider who has already checked in can help you to join the ride. Co-riders can help each other, and the ride giver can drive without any disturbance.

Ride Moderation is an indigenous and unique feature of the Quick Ride app. The sole purpose of the Ride Moderation feature is to enhance the convenience and safety of the users. The feature will help both the ride giver and ride taker. Do use this feature and drive safely on the road. Let us know what you think about the Ride Moderation feature in the comments section.

This is a really good and helpful feature. Once people understand this, it can be used extensively by the regular ride takers and givers.
It would be awesome if the ride giver is able to manage and has the control to provide this feature to a particular ride taker/s in that ride.

I Guess this feature should not by any chance modify the settings the ride giver has already set for the ride… Giving a co rider additional privilege as you mentioned should be a both side consent and should be managed effectively. Knowing in and out of this feature would help all of them. And yes delegating the ride giver task to the copassenger will help the ride giver focus on riding rather than to multitask…

The best feature so far. Always wondered how you expect the rider to chat on the app while driving. Also, it would be great if you enable call option for any new requests instead on chat only option. It’s easier to call and check pick up and drop point before accepting the ride instead of chatting while driving.

Great idea. It is a pain to currently monitor the ride once you start driving. It would be great if you could integrate android auto as well, so that the notifications appear on the car screen.

This is a very good feature which helps safe driving. Another feature request that the team should work on is the message feature. When a rider messages the ride giver, the message does not pop up. The ride giver has to go two levels in to access messages and hence it’s not driver friendly.

Looks good to both especially for ride givers as we can avoid distraction while driving. Almost I feel co-riders can help each other and can participate if they wish. Also this is an independent feature where if someone doesn’t want to use where they can disable the feature.

All the best to Quick Ride team…

    Hi….
I’ve been using Quickride for about a couple of weeks i guess…
I Seriously feel the base fare of 4 Rupees per Km is really injustice for the ride giver considering the fact that traveling 12Km as an example and the rider if single and if fully occupied in a hatch car of 1+4 will finally get 200 Rupees only where as the same person individually pays more than 300 bucks who travels the same distance in a OLA/UBER, it’s not about me travelling alone it’s about sharing and sharing has to be done judiciously considering all parameters cause the driver is in constant pressure in driving alone and also driving with co passengers who are totally strange to him/her…
He/She needs to take utmost care while driving in the city roads…
You can mail me for more information if required to make Quick ride have a continuous improvement for making our cities get rid of millions of single riding cars…
    Cheers Guys..

      Hello Jayanth,

You can increase the fare up to Rs 6/km if you feel the base fare of Rs 3/km is not suitable for you. The fare is decided by the ride giver and it can also be negotiated by the ride taker. So, you can set a fare which you feel is right for that particular route and the maximum fare you can set on the app is Rs 6/km. We hope this answers your query.
      Happy carpooling!

      Hello Jayanath,

The motto of quick ride is not to make money. The motto is to make friends and save environment by avoiding a vehicle on the roads. If you really don’t want to travel with strangers, quick ride is not suitable to you.
I as ride taker had experience with ride givers who expect more than 5 points/km for a nano car, without AC in it and offering 4 seats in it.

Please don’t compare Quick ride with OLA and UBER as ride givers are not professional drivers and they are employees. Hope you understand.

I believe it’s better to assign the ride moderation to someone from the ride giver is a better option. Like we click on a person and can say Call, Chat, Picked Up etc.,
Ride Moderator privilege must be provided.

If there are only 2 people in the ride, the Ride Moderator can be default assigned to the ride taker in the ride.

    This tweak is very important.

This is an amazing feature…I started using Quick ride couple of months back and was always a ride taker but for one once. I understood the difficulty and realized the pain of managing ride while driving when I offered ride. The new feature of ride moderation goes a long way in promoting car pooling in general and makes lives of ride givers so much easy in particular. Kudos to Quck Ride team!

First of all, improve your stability and performance during peak hrs on core features and then work on freebies.

The map has to be stable to give accurate information and wait times.

I also struggle to add someone into a recurring ride and select a route that I always take while creating a new ride. Many a times, the app closes automatically when I am trying to reach a ride taker

This feature may be one that is nice to have but not a critical feature. Ensure you test the app for peak load.

It’s not fair, that even after having a ? % on time record. Some stupid rider rates intensional or unintended a bad rating. It not only impacts my punctuality, but also leaves a bad impression on the ride given. I want u guys to look into this and rectify and come back with an accurate reason. You have the tracking mechanism. I want you guys to fix this. I will go to every possible page and post my concern, untill you fix my rating..

      Hello Kiran,

We understand your concern regarding ratings. But our systems can only track the ratings which is given by the user. The user might have given a bad rating by mistake. We request you to continue being punctual and offer rides. If you face the same issue in the future, do let us know. We will track the user who is intentionally giving you bad ratings. We hope that this answers your query. Happy carpooling!
