Safety is essential for a carpooling platform to be effective and for Quick Ride, our customer’s security is our paramount. To achieve this, we implement multiple layers of security, you can read more about our Information Security Policy here
This involves targeting primarily professionals working in corporate companies, profile verification, rating system, limiting rider matches to the same business/company, panic button during the ride, sharing and tracking the ride path remotely, ride deviation alert and providing users the liberty to block unwanted riders/users.
This is just the top layer of security feature pool. Let’s take a look at how users can be secure by activating an array of security features provided by Quick Ride.
Security Features For Customer Profile Security on Quick Ride
Registered Mobile Number Verification
The contact number of each user is verified by sending an OTP to the registered mobile number as provided to Quick Ride by the user. This helps us to verify the number’s owner. And now that Aadhaar is connected to every mobile number, it further strengthens and adds another layer of safety.
Professional Credentials Verification through Company Domain Email ID
With a verification link or an OTP sent to your organization’s email id, we verify each user profile. In order to verify the corporate account, the company name and domain name of the email ID should be the same. This guarantees that the user is working for the same corporate entity as the provided information.
Verifying you against your official mail ID helps to ensure your safety and that of your fellow Quick Riders. This level of verification is purely intended to ensure that you belong to a legit professional network.
Government ID Verification through Aadhar Card and Driving License
To ensure the profile picture uploaded by the user is genuine and belongs to the same user, we utilize verification through Aadhar Card. This helps you to identify your co-rider and avoids the risk of fraudulent users on the platform.
Once you select verification through Aadhar Card and/or Driving License, you will be required to click a selfie. Selfie verification helps us in identifying that the person using carpool through your account is actually you and match with the information and profile photo shared with our platform.
Control your Contact Number Visibility with fellow Riders
You can choose the visibility of your contact number to ride partners. You also have the freedom to select who can call you and at what stage i.e. only once the ride request/invite is accepted or the contact can be completely hidden.
You can select any option as per your preference:
- Anyone – Users can call you when you’re visible as an option
- Joined ride-partners – Users can initiate a call only after joining with you on a ride
- No calls, please – Users cannot initiate calls to you
Restricting Chat/call from unverified users at your discretion
Enable/Disable this option depending on your requirement. If you do not wish to chat or receive a call from unverified riders, Quick Ride provides you with the option to disable. You will not receive any chat or calls from unverified riders.
Security Features with Fellow Riders on Quick Ride
Optimize Ridesharing with unverified Users
You have the option to accept rides only through verified users. By enabling this option, only verified profiles will be displayed as route matches for your ride request.
Restrict Gender-specific Ride Sharing – A female can choose to share rides exclusively with fellow female riders
You can restrict ride selection based on gender i.e. if a female wants to share rides only with females, she can enter her preference. She will then be shown only female matches available on her route. You can filter ride sharing based on gender as per your preference.
Filter Ride matches from the same company
We have an array of customers who are comfortable in sharing rides just with employees from their company. Not everyone is comfortable sharing rides with people outside their professional network. By filtering ride matches from the same company, you will be shown matches only from people from your company.
This further explains why organizational email verification plays a vital role in Quick Ride
Security Features Before Ride Share
Evaluate Fellow Riders Ratings before Joining the Ride
Before joining the ride you have the option to evaluate fellow riders profiles. If the rating of any rider from that ride is not up to par, you can skip that match(ride) and move on to the next match.
You can not only check the complete profile of the ride giver/taker but also of all the fellow riders joining you on the route.
Security Features During Rideshare
Panic/Emergency Button
To initiate an emergency alert that will be sent to your emergency contact during the journey, you can press the panic button. The system will send your emergency contact an SMS with the location information. The location will be then periodically sent every 5 minutes.
Share Your Ride Path
By enabling tracking your ride, you can allow your loved ones to track your ride location remotely. This security feature will keep your friend/family member informed during a ride about your whereabouts.
Automatic Route Deviation Alert
If the rider deviates from the pre-planned route, the system sends an automatic emergency alert to your emergency contact.
Initiate Emergency When…
Quick Ride allows its users to select scenarios where they want their added emergency contacts to be notified. Following are the two options. You can customize the settings as per your preference:
- I don’t complete ride – on time
Enabling this option will send an emergency SMS to the emergency contact if you do not check-out of the ride by the time you were supposed to reach your drop point.
- My ride -giver deviates from the scheduled route
If your ride -giver deviates from the scheduled route by more than allowed threshold, an emergency SMS will be sent to the emergency contact, if this preference is enabled.
Security Features After Completing the Ride
Rate your fellow co-passengers after completing the ride
Rider and ride taker have the choice to rate each other at the end of each trip. On the profile of all customers, the average rating is shown to give you the choice to select the best-rated ride matches and to avoid matches with low ratings.
NOTE:
The riders ratings are closely and strictly monitored on the Quick Ride Platform. Continuous low rating may even lead to Auto Suspension of the account.
You can Block Users/Riders. You will not receive chat/call/ride request from blocked users
You have the option to block a co-rider if you felt uncomfortable by their remarks, behavior or any unjustified social norm conducted by the co-passenger during the ride. The blocked user will not be able to see you in the matches.
Low Ratings and Bad Reviews can result in Suspension of an Account
When a user is rated 1 star continuously for 3 times or the average of 10 ratings is less than 3 stars, the user’s account will be automatically suspended.
- Auto Suspension
Quick Ride will automatically suspend a user’s profile based on the average of negative reviews received by the user. More negative reviews, more likely the account will face Auto Suspension. This extra added layer of security helps us in filtering out users who do not respect genuine usage of app and may solicit in behavior that can be risky for their co-riders.
- Female to Male Negative Rating
If a female has provided a negative review for a male co-passenger, the platform will either immediately suspend the male user’s account or report for suspension after feedback review.
Report a fellow Rider in case of misconduct, unruly and/or fraudulent behavior
You can repost a profile/ user if your rider does not match with the profile photo as displayed on the Platform or any other fraudulent activity on the account that appears suspicious.
Upcoming Security Features
Number Masking
By the end of this month(August 2019), Quick Ride will be adding another security feature, Number masking or call masking is the best way to protect the user’s identity and stop misuse of vulnerable data by anonymizing the user’s mobile number. This feature will enable us to connect ride giver – ride taker without disclosing either party’s phone number.
Ride Level Insurance
The recent addition to our multiple security features is Ride Level Insurance, meaning your rides with Quick Ride will be insured. This feature will be rolled out by the end of this month (August 2019).
NOTE:
Time Restriction For Women Employees ( Case-to Case)
Few companies such as WIPRO and Cognizant as part of their security policy for employees restrict female carpooling from 08:00 PM – 06:00 AM. This means that women employees cannot board carpool post 08:00 PM.
